Safety

Safety

EDR is committed to providing a safe and secure training environment for all participants.  Firearms Safety is stressed and enforced at ALL EDR events.  EDR reserves the right to deny training to any customer who cannot or does not demonstrate safe handling of firearms or who otherwise threatens the safety of staff, participants, or any other person.

Safety Briefing

EDR performs a Safety Briefing before ALL training events, EVERY DAY.  Our safety briefing will review the Cardinal Rules of firearms safety, additional safety requirements, safety issues pertinent to the training planned for the day, and our emergency response plan.

Medical Response

ALL EDR staff are trained medical responders.  All EDR ranges are equipped with trauma kits and other gear to respond to gunshot wounds, major hemorrhage, or penetrating chest injury.  Our kits also contain boo boo and rehydration supplies as well.

Cardinal Rules of Firearms Safety

All EDR trainees are required to learn, memorize, and obey the following cardinal rules of firearms safety.  If we follow these basic rules, we should never have an accident or injury caused by negligent firearms use.

  1. ALWAYS know the status of your firearms
  2. ALWAYS point your muzzle in a safe direction
  3. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
  4. ALWAYS be sure of your target and know where your bullet will travel

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – ALL trainees must have and use the following types of PPE:

Ballistic Eye-wear

Hearing Protection

Caution: Females should NOT wear shirts with a plunging neckline because hot shell casings have been known to fall into shirts that way.  This can cause extreme distraction and burns.  Our registration forms have more detailed information regarding how trainees should be equipped.

Posted Signs & Regulations

ALL participants and visitors must read and obey ALL posted signs and regulations.  ALL participants and visitors must also follow ALL directions issued by EDR instructors and staff.

Waivers

Participants must submit a fully executed and signed EDR Liability Waiver for each calendar year.  Waivers expire on 12/31 of each year and must be renewed before training may be provided.

COVID

Currently, participants must also execute and submit an EDR COVID-19 Policy & Self-assessment form to certify that they do not exhibit any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or have had any recent exposures to those infected with COVID-19.  Our range is outdoors and masks are not required.  There is plenty of room for spacing.

Waivers may be downloaded and printed from the links below.  Hard copies are also available on site.
